Carnaval del Pueblo

Carnaval del Pueblo is the UK’s biggest and best-loved free Latin fiesta, celebrating music, dance and culture from 19 Latin American countries. Now in its tenth successful year, it attracts and welcomes people from communities across the country.
The event has significantly grown every year since the start. Figures indicate that attendance has risen from 4,000 people in 1999 to more than 130,000 in 2007. The Carnival kicks off at midday with a lively and colourful procession from Elephant & Castle to Burgess Park, three miles away. It arrives at Burgess Park at around 3pm via Elephant and Castle, Walworth Road and Albany Road.
At the park, live acts will entertain carnival-goers from 10am to 10pm. Worldwide stars will perform at The Main Stage. The Brazilian, the Andean and the Latin Hip Hop areas will offer Brazilian Samba shows, UK-based Reggaeton, Colombian Salsa, Mexican Mariachi, Bolivian folklore, Peruvian and Bolivian panpipes, and much more.
Carnaval del Pueblo also offers approximately 200 stall marquees where stall holders trade in Latin American, Caribbean and Western food and drinks, and Arts and Crafts from the region.
